Today's memory is short and sweet, but nonetheless just as amazing.
On Saturday, I was asked to assist with setting up chairs in the arena before the first of three tournaments.
Prior to the shows, practices are going on, not only for the knights but for the horses as well. One of our horses was going around the arena, now and then being stopped by his rider to stand at the edge. At one point, he was stopped in front of me while I was taking down the chairs.
Now I adore animals, sometimes much more than people. ;) So I said a quick hello, and was told that the horse was being taught to not be bothered by minor noises common in the arena. I told him, "Aw, bud, there's nothing to be afraid of, I promise." Then I went about continuing with the chairs and letting him see that all was safe.
This may not seem like such a big deal. But how many people can say they went to work and had a small hand in reassuring a beautiful creature like our horses?
I said it before, and I'll say it always: if anyone is higher than the Queen herself, it is our Andalusians. As seen in the video above, the horses live in the lap of luxury itself, and have the utmost respect from all of us. They are forever loved.
Long live the Queen.
